I think they’re doomed. They will live out their lives underground, generation after generation, until everything is broken and unfixable and no one is able to live, let alone procreate.

There is zero chance of the Earth becoming habitable again and the silos were a last ditch effort of hoping for that 0.001% chance that they’re wrong. Kind of like you have inoperable brain cancer, and you are going to die, but of course you’re not going to give up. So you just… keep going. Maybe, just maybe all the doctors are wrong…

This is the only reason I can think of for not just telling people why the silos exist and what got Bernard and Lukas so nihilistic and why relics are thing in the first place.

Quinn’s book is a way for people to figure out the truth if they really, really, really want to without risking the silo, or at least reducing that risk and limiting the damage.

I suspect Quinn took a walk outside after he finished his Silo 2.0 updates because he KNEW no one would ever get out.
