      Isn’t that what the rep said “Becuase no Republicans participated”, but the hearing was closed to democrats. Maybe I misunderstood

        I think its saying no republicans participated in the committee? But closed to doesnt make sense in that context.

            The spectator was under the impression that it was a closed hearing - that is, a hearing that is limited to only certain select members (in this case, all Democrats). The spectator wanted to know why it was a closed hearing that only involved Democrats on the panel.

            Bennie Thompson told him essentially that it wasn’t a closed hearing, that Republicans were also completely free to join it, but none of them did.

            The headline is “HOUSE DEMOCRATS MARK 5th ANNIVERSARY OF JAN. 6 ATTACK ON U.S. CAPITOL”

            Rep. Bennie G Thompson, who is quoted above, is a Democratic representative of Mississippi, so I take it a hearing was held and no Republicans chose to participate.
