I supported the US for a long time because I still believed they were actually being the good guys as the world police even when there is a trail of evidence spanning decades suggesting that they were not. I rationalized that even the good guys do bad things sometimes by accident, that these were the exceptions rather than the rule, that as bad as they were other countries were certainly doing even worse things, and sometimes they probably had to do those bad things to stop even worse things. I don’t believe that anymore, and I regret being so gullible. They have dropped any pretense to being anything other than evil and selfish. And as a certain president infamously said, “Fool me once, shame on you. You can’t get fooled again”
