    Lemmy.today has an open federation policy and tends to have most conservative users who want to stay connected to the wider threadverse.

      I joined because of the open federation, but mostly because I wanted to have full control over which instances I block. I’m definitely not conservative though.

      I was not familiar with that. Didn’t know this instance was even well known. Good to know what the instance is apparently known for

      Not sure what you mean by “open federation.” By default an instance federates with all others unless you start blocking, right? So every instance has an open federation policy until something like .world gets fed up with hexbear and blocks them.

      Also, if they are all that conservative I’d guess it would be difficult to maintain this open federation policy, given most other instances might start blocking them.

        They do not defederate as much as the other instances and seem to have a lax moderation stance.

          That does usually tend to lead to a certain kind of environment yeah. Nazi Bar parable and all that.
