Canada’s trade deficit in April widened to an all-time high of a whopping $7.1 billion (US$5.2 billion), data showed on Thursday, as tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump sucked out demand for Canadian goods from the United States.
Maybe people will start taking our other trade agreements more seriously now, like CETA and CPTPP. I mean it’s hard to believe somebody would castrate themselves business-wise as thoroughly as Trump and co has, Russia couldn’t have wished for a better bunch of idiots, and we all saw it in slo-mo. A hard lesson for Canada, everyone saw the orange mudslide coming but did little to nothing to mitigate the incoming catastrophe. Carney and the band better don some of them banker top hats and pull the bunnies out screaming, or we are screwed. Not looking forward to the pain. Elbows up, we’ll survive this.
