Now we’re mixing the leadership of law enforcement and military.

In other news, armed minorities are harder to suppress.

When you put boots in my country, I will do my part, and it won’t be with a fucking sign.

From context and from your Lemmy instance I’m assuming you’re in Canada?

When you put boots in my country

Okay, so that hasn’t happened yet. So you want nothing done until then? Those of us on the USA side that love Canada should just shut up and not protest when I see trump threatening my brothers and sisters in Canada?

If you’re curious, my protest sign was “Hands off Canada!”. You’re saying I should have stayed home instead?

          toxic arguing from you.

I just don’t want my best neighbor to the north to be invaded by my country run by an authoritarian and I’m willing to stand up and say it out loud in public on the street. Fuck me, right? So toxic!

I have no idea what your definition of toxic is. Feel free to share that if you like. I can say so far you haven’t added anything positive to the conversation though. Feel free to jump in and contribute to the topic of how we can affect change, and protect Canada from US aggression.

your comment is toxic because you employ the rhetoric of a middleschooler while acting like you’re on the high road here. growup and do better plz

I’m out there protesting. The person I’m talking to is telling me not to. Asking what their effective alternative is when we clearly both want a free and sovereign nation of Canada is a perfectly legitimate question. So far their only reply is to say effectively “when it gets worse, I’ll do something”. I’m not content to wait until Canada is invaded to show my opposition through my voice.

Can I ask what your suggestion to receive an answer of alternative action besides protesting at this point, or are you qualifying that as a toxic question too?

Please acknowledge the smug petulant tone of your comments here. The other guy said that sternly worded signs don’t change much. I feel the same way. There are few people in positions to affect change right now—namely our politicians and other people of high social status such as celebrities or athletes, yet they’re as comfy as anyone. If other guy were actually planning any substantial resistance, this is not the place to share it. You are nipping at the people on your own side like a dumb little anklebiting dog and deserve a kick for it.
