Should we forget the last thousand years where the Sith operated so secretly that they were thought by the Jedi to be extinct?
Or the comics where they explore wanting so desperately to kill Jedi, but needing to maintain their secrecy more?
How about the originals where Palpatine gained power and never revealed he was a Sith to the masses?

I agree that the story wasn’t fleshed out well enough in the sequels. They have their flaws, and this may be one of the biggest, but the idea that the Sith would operate publicly and transparently is laughable.
My whole post was sarcasm, I hate that people complain about that line exactly because why the fuck would an x-wing pilot know about the mechanisms behind palpatine’s resurrection?
