I think you underestimate the ability of folk to not read over what they’ve written with a critical eye, or at all in some cases! Even highly educated folk like my mum, a published author with 28 books released in her career, 10 still in print! When I was in secondary school to earn allowance I’d proofread her work for her. Fucking shocking, luckily before I was old enough for literary child labour she had an excellent editor at the publisher.
