    I updated the title of the post to better clarify that this would only apply to Canadian MEPs.

    I think that if it comes down to a referendum (not that referendums are necessary anyway), I think a Canadian referendum on EU membership would be more likely to gain majority support than for proportional representation. The reason being is that membership into the EU is easier to understand than proportional representation.

    Given the current political climate (the American trade war against Canada), Canadians would be much more receptive to joining the EU.

      I feel like if we did end up joining the EU, just seeing how proportional representation functions would help people with onboarding that as a better voting system.
      I really hope EU membership gains traction, I think it would be a huge benefit in so many ways. Freedom of movement alone would be a game changer for things like our healthcare system. Enabling EU citizens to more easily move to Canada and bolster our various industries would be exactly what we need, with the additional markets that would open up, to kick our economy into high gear.
      Fuck America, we’ve been really good to them and all that did was paint a fucking target on us…
