Gas has gone up nearly a dollar in my area since the inauguration. I still see bumper stickers saying “if you voted for Biden you owe me gas money” on the monster trucks people drive here.

Democrats are fucking idiots and when they lose an election they pick exactly one thing to learn from it and they wildly overlearn it

2016 being an exception where they decided to do russiagate

It’s short and sweet and to the point, and you used to be able to get eggs for like a buck fifty, so it’s an easy target.

Sam’s Club used to have 5 DOZEN for 10 DOLLARS

I don’t think they bother to sell whole eggs at all anymore

Prices/inflation are a convenient excuse for voting for Trump. It’s the reason polite people use to justify their vote knowing everything they do so they can continue going through polite society.

In reality, they’re just bigots, christofascists, etc. (source: my family)

Exactly. It was a convenient excuse. Just like how they hate unelected bureaucrats but Musk is somehow fine as an unelected bureaucrat.

Hypocrisy is an expression of power over others. I get to do this, you don’t.

I don’t think that’s actually true. Sure, the people who voted for him are largely also racist, but I think inflation did push many otherwise apathetic voters to oppose Biden (or Harris, if they realized Biden wasn’t running). Those people are probably mildly racist too, but it wasn’t the reason they voted.

Valid take but I’ve literally heard some saying “it’s patriotic to pay more because Trump is trying to save us” in response to this kind of shit. They’re literally in a cult and their cult leader can do no wrong in their eyes.

Maybe some are figuring out, but not enough.

It’s like that old saying that a conservative would gladly eat a pile of shit if they knew a liberal had to smell their breath. As long as others are hurting more than them, they don’t care. The cruelty is the point.

I agree about those idiots. But Trump got 77.3M votes in 2024 compared to 62.9M in 2016. At least some of the new dummies were influenced by high inflation under Biden and believed - even were counting on - Trump’s promise to not only stop inflation but miraculously reverse the price increases on Day 1.

Eggs are both especially expensive due to bird flu and a cheap staple that many people relied on. Everything has gotten more expensive due to inflation but they made an extreme and relatable example.
