It’s more of an analogy to describe the exhaustion of your brain. Your brain doesn’t know, but it gets exhausted in a way. Kinda like when you work an office job and by the time you get home you’re “exhausted” in a mental but not physical way. Same thing

I run into this phenomenon when playing board games with friends. One round of the game in question is like 2-3 hours. First round I’m doing great, second round I start to get tired, disinterested, and want to go home. I never make it to a third and often not even the second.
I’m curious if this has been studied at all. Like what is a social battery and how does your brain know when it’s low?
