    Treating someone using technological implants then later having it removed against their will is in a sense like cutting off an artificial limb with no replacement. Even during a clinical trial.

    The cases where 20 yr old equipment is becomes obsolete replaces by newer tech with no more older OEM parts is at least understandable, even if still cruel. Article

    I would advocate for forcing proprietary schematics, processes and tech for bionic implant to become open source should the company behind it go bankrupt. This would facilitate either another company in the industry to develop suitable aftermarket replacements, or allow existing users to make some repairs of their own.

    (I already know creditors would rather shred their stuff to prevent disclosing profitable trade secrets over benefiting the public good)
