    These kinds of ads are the ones that drive people to ad blockers.

    If advertisers only understood that many of us are okay with limited, non-intrusive advertisements. This kind of garbage only guarantees that I will never ever ever use that product or service, oftentimes out of spite.

      Yes. Unfortunately each advertiser thinks they can make a little more money if they go a little farther.

      It’s like the tragedy of the commons (which might have an ahistorical root but nevermind that) where a bunch of people acting in “rational self interest” ruin the thing for everyone.

      I remember first looking for an adblocker specifically just for obnoxious animated ads, but og AdBlock blocked all the ads and I never looked back from there. If ad makers could’ve just restrained themselves I might’ve never gone looking for an adblocker.

      I specifically remember the style of ad that made me get an adblocker. In the olden days on the og minecraft forum, they had an autoplaying video ad at the bottom of the page. Every single post you clicked on, or new tab you opened, you had to scroll all the way down to mute the stupid fucking ad!
