The only reason you wouldn’t just say gay woman is if you think female homosexuality is different to enby and male homosexuality, which is a right wing myth. Older gay women accept the regressive terms but the youth these days are leaving them behind. In 20 years, the word will be viewed the same as words like “transvestite” and “homo”. It’ll be old people slang.
