I disagree, I think it does a good job of painting him as a complicated, multi-faceted human being by the end and not just “an asshole,” though he is an asshole. Especially when he gets his shit together toward the end, and then ends up going to prison.

Malcolm in the Middle is great, especially given that it has a very, VERY working-class setting (though more appropriate to the late 90s and early 2000s than today).

Community is also great, pretty neutral, as is Bojack Horseman, though I can have a hard time sympathizing with rich assholes.

I also really like Rick and Morty but I figured this wasn’t a popular opinion among leftists, so I left it out, lol.

I get it, definitely! I just remember these shows and movies not bothering me too much. I’ll probably have more recs as I think about it over the day.

Obviously capitalism touches everything, but there is still a lot of good comedy you can enjoy. I don’t remember much bad stuff in:

  • Futurama
  • King of the Hill (with the exception of like, two episodes)
  • Office Space
  • Bob’s Burgers

Oh, and if you like video games, Brütal Legend is like, hilarious and literally about unionizing workers against their masters in a fantasy heavy-metal-album-cover setting.

I have had many opinions over the course of my life that directly contradict opinions I have now. I feel like it’s exceedingly common.

During various points of the day, I am all of these frogs.

I’m gonna go ahead and (bravely, of course) agree with the crowd and say more non-tech content. That’s the bane of FOSS/Federated social media. It’s great but 90% of the users just discuss tech on it.

I’ve never seen a stoplight that didn’t either A: have buttons to request crossing for pedestrians and cyclists, or B: have sensors to detect them. It seems you’re just particularly butthurt about this. I was a biclycle-only commuter for years in one of the worst parts of the country for cycling, ten years ago, and never seemed to have as many issues as you do with this.

It seems to me that this document just says this isn’t going to be fixed on the motorist end of things, and is best combatted by keeping cyclists and pedestrians from illegally getting onto highway on-ramps where motorists are going to be looking to the left to avoid having a collision with other vehicles going 60 mph or faster. Basically, if the motorist is going to be looking left to merge onto a highway, these are roads that cyclists and pedestrians have no business on (as there are generally better ways as a cyclist or pedestrian to get where you’re going. Highways are a waste of time for cyclists and pedestrians).

Source: years and years of being a cyclist and pedestrian in urban environments designed for cars.

Also, in the US, pretty much all accidents of this type are considered the motorists’ fault from a legal standpoint, which is not what this document is addressing at all. This document is addressing how to keep it from happening.

If the Singularity is owned by Facebook, I’ll be connecting with an IRC client too.

It’s not an official term or anything. It’s what it sounds like. An interface designed for watching videos. Like PeerTube. Not Mastodon. Mastodon is designed for micro-blogging. You can watch videos there, but the experience is like watching some shitty Twitter video. It’s not an interface designed for watching videos.

I also love Thunar. It’s exactly as fancy as I want it to be, with nothing extra. (to me)

This game looks pretty kickass, actually…

Hello all, I’ve made a Steam group for Lemmynauts to find one another and play games together. Feel free to join!..

I discovered this excellent performance of Silly Wizard’s “The Queen of Argyll” today and figured I’d share!..

I have created a new community as I recently saw there isn’t an existing community for go, the ancient Chinese board game of strategy. …

How to cope with lack of IRL friends/acquaintances on the Fediverse?

So, I completely switched to FOSS federated social networks toward the middle of 2020. I love the Fediverse, but nobody I know IRL seems to care at all about it in any capacity, so I’m basically just screaming into a void full of other FOSSheads. How do I reconcile this? How do we get our IRL peeps …

Guitar at my Desk No. 1 - The Internationale

Hey everyone, I figured I’d just share some guitar videos I’ve put up on PeerTube…

What are these cats I'm seeing everywhere as avatars? [SOLVED]

I feel like every third person has that same cat as their avatar. Some are like different colors and some just have an overlay or whatever but it’s the same cat. What is it??? …

Best Places to Meet New People Online?

Hello everyone. So this year has me feeling very isolated and I’m thinking about how easy it used to be to meet people online and how difficult it’s become to do so. There used to be tons of good places to meet people but internet culture has changed so much that now it’s virtually impossible. Even …

My previous PeerTube instance is down. Which one should I join?

As the title states, the PeerTube instance I had previously been using is down with no warning. I didn’t like it that much anyway. I’m looking for a good instance with anti-nazi moderation that has local content but also federates with many other instances. I’ve been thinking about framatube but is…
