People on YouTube have to make money and it works. They do actually follow through with the title so it’s not that bad

How did we get to this, I thought the progress he have made would have actually stuck in some people’s heads (I’ve voters). Unfortunately, some people don’t understand what the progress was for because all they think about are their wallets and control of others
That’s very fair, I wasn’t clear enough that I meant it was fine to support Israel in the fact they are allowed to protect themselves. Every country has that right.
Unfortunately, the Israeli’s have gone crazy with the leeway the west has left for them. It’s also funny that though the EU supports Israel overall, they still send lots of aid to Palestine cause they recognise that Israel is destroying that part of the world
Settinging asside the likelyhood that many personal stories there are fantacy. There are just fewer people on this platform and probably the many new people from the last little bit are still testing the waters.
But primarily, I think nowadays people understand that if they put their data online anywhere, there is a chance someone could use it against them. Hence, people here are not doing it as much.
With regards to supporting Israel, at first it was fine (since the last attack) but how they can continue to support a regime conducting genocide upon Gazans is beyond me. However, in many UN calls for the conflict to end, it was ever only the US that voted in favour of Israel. I don’t think they abandoned the rules, its just that a rules based worked order is only as reliable as those who enforce it
It does seem to me that a rules based world is not viable (for now) because none of the big players actually follow the rules. Ex: China for a while has not followed trade rules and subsiquently neither has the US (since they became scared of China’s rapid development). With trump 2.0, the world policeman is starting to look very fascist which is not a situation any EU leader could have fathomed a decade ago.
If anything, the EU has been trying to bolster the EU as an entity inorder to protect itself. It’s just not everyone in the EU agrees on that course and due to the unanimity requirements, things just can’t change. Since the end of WW2 Europe has been a vassel for the US and even until now that’s not markedly changes even if it’s gotten a little more difficult with the creation of the EU.
That being said, if the EU cannot finally get their shit together then I agree with your last point, they will be eaten alive by the US and China
Tried to walk there through my phone. It didn’t work either and think I broke my nose
No tolerance however ends up at the same point.
It’s not like we know this person has Nazi tattoos or even what their views are. Maybe they literally just asked a question. If they do have Nazi tattoos, they can fuck off. If they think anyone who doesn’t identify as strait is a bad person, they can fuck off. If they believe the q-anon conspiracys without question, they can fuck off.
But untill we talk to someone (assuming they are not visibly showing their extreme views like in your bar tender example) it literally doesn’t make sense to judge people based on the information OP has provided. If more information comes out, I am open to changing my opinion, but for now I think you are being intolerant of people joining this platform simply because they ask for something that is not as left wing.
I think we all need to see this at least once in our life
As a European, I’m biased and say go for it! They being said, Europe has a lot of different climates and cultures to offer so kinda depends what your looking for.
In a perfect world (where you have the money and time to do so), I would suggest you backpack around for 3+ months and see which vibes you like the most. At the very least, I would suggest visiting somewhere in Europe first (even just one place) if you haven’t done so
On the flip side, if you did go and your friends/family felt more of a push to go (maybe things get worse) you could be a bridge for others to have an easier time coming to Europe. Just a thought but I understand moving yourself would also be challenging. I have experience with it so I’m aware
Europe has a lot of different cultures that range from relatively close to the US (UK, Ireland) to ones that are more different but still not all that far off. I mean think about it, the US was built by immigrants from all over Europe that brought their different cultures with them.
If I may, perhaps somewhere in Europe is somewhere you’d fit in better. No guarantee course but I felt compelled to at least mention my thought
You are correct unfortunately 😢
I think your core message is completely true. But imho, probably this is what op is talking about with people yelling at their friend. Taking such a forceful stance will push those that are unsure away which is the exact opposite of what we need.
With that said, the fact that you just assumed their stance on politics from a generalised complaint of ‘my friend got yelled at’ is completely unfounded, unfair, and definitely will push away anyone who would consider themselves moderates. Baseless clames is literally how trump became elected and that’s not a good foundation for someone to get elected on
Very true, we need everyone to be open minded. Both those on the platform but also those coming in. I hope the comunity can keep the discourse constructive. Hope you can enjoy the platform!
I think it’s unfair to just assume they are far right cause they are American. Right wing? Sure. More likely to be far right? Also sure. This doesn’t mean we should not welcome them and then try to show them that their specific view points are unfounded (or maybe ours are, there’s the point of discussion). Not just assume they are Nazis when they just ask why people here seem different to them
Thanks for the explanation! Makes sense why people don’t like it now
Unfortunately thats the problem with the world atm. No one cares for the facts, just what ever fits their narrative
Tbh, I don’t think I agree. The only times I feel they can’t really be impartial “even if they say they are” is when they use a sponsors parts to build something. Or otherwise the whole video is sponsored but they kinda are reviewing the fevice. I don’t really like those videos but they are very clear about the fact that it is sponsored so viewers can at least down some salt whilst they watch the video. They also do state some issues they have with the products when they arise which is good (though obviously they may not say everything that’s wrong with it)
All these things listed are blunders (some quite big ones) but I think the person who responded to that comment with the opposing view makes a lot of sense. They added the nuance to the situation that the comment you linked to I think glasses over since they obviously don’t like Linus. Personally their (the response comments) take is where I stand on these issues too.
Obvious, as LTT has grown they have made mistakes but they have always explained their reasoning or otherwise apologised and tried to make things right.
Overall I think they are a force for good in the world. They teach millions about tech, how to use it, and how you can save money. As they become more corporate their passion may fade but I think it’s still there and I’ll probably keep watching their stuff for the time being
The territory they occupy in Ukrain is not theirs. They literally gave it to the Ukrainians during USSR era.
