Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Some US car buyers envy what they cannot have - affordable Chinese EVs
1·5 hours agoThe one guy driving a Xiaomi SU7, is the CEO of Ford. And he’s refusing to give it up. Read the interview he gave after he visited China. https://insideevs.com/news/764318/ford-ceo-china-evs-humbled/
They want to turn Reddit into a rightwing echo chamber. Lately there are so many comments on lemmy about people getting perma banned, including myself, for breaking rule 1. However in most cases, like myself, only made a comment without any harm or even a reference to violence. I only commented that ICE can forget about their payments and bonuses and that in 3 years time, they’ll be sucking immigrant cock behind a Wendy’s. That got me a perma ban after 15 years on Reddit. All these tech bros are bending the knee and getting taken from behind. Such short term thinking will become their downfall. If this happens, it’ll be a good thing for Lemmy.

China generates more power from electricity than the US and Europe combined. This is quite an interesting read:

2·1 day agoChina will not be impacted that much as you think. China is much more oil independent than before. Unlike the US, China invests heavily in green energy and nuclear energy. The only country that is behind in all of this, it’s the US.
I have the concept of a concept of a concept of a plan

21·2 days agoEven African countries like Morocco have high speed train network. But the US? Of course no. How can you invade a country for wind or sunshine? Than again with the current bunch of science denying fuck wits in charge, you’ll never know. They don’t need any excuse or justification. The US is stuck in the 19th century in regards to infrastructure.

311·3 days agoIt will be more like Afghanistan. Iran is mostly mountainous and guerilla warfare will be the default. The US relies too much on technology which will not that useful in that environment. Don’t forget that the Iran army has been training for years for this type of conflict. Afghanistan was a disaster for American troops but will be nothing compared to Iran.

politics @lemmy.world•Well, That’s One Way to Sell Americans on Electric Cars. The U.S. has been wary of EVs. As the cost of gas soars, we’re now paying the price.
3·4 days agoIt’s amazing again how limited the US is with choices. In the rest of the world including soon Canada, there is a much greater choice of EV’s. Take Australia for example: besides Tesla there is BYD, Seekr, Geely, MG, KIA, Polestar, Cherry, Hyundai, Skoda and WV. But because of the unsubstantiated hatred of anything Chinese, the US has only a couple of choices. Funnily enough, the CEO of Ford drives a Xiaomi SU7 and does not want to hand it in. Look up his interview after he visited China. The same applies to mobile phones. There are amazing phone brands in the rest of the world but again the US is limited. Land of the free but as long at it is beneficial to the US corporations. Competition is frowned upon.

World News@lemmy.world•Oval Office stunned as Trump fires Pearl Harbor joke at Japanese PMEnglish
11·4 days agoIndeed they do but in other countries there are mechanisms in place to ensure you don’t get a cosplay dictator. In the Netherlands, Wilders was elected who is a Trump wannabe, but thanks for the proper democratic system in the Netherlands, he was severely limited in what crazy shit he wanted to do. Obviously the government collapsed and now they have a much more middle of the road government, which means more will get done. It is about checks and balances but Trump does whatever he wants and no one stops him.

Good thing the US has a high speed railway network like China, Japan, Europe or Morocco, so you don’t need to get on a plane. Oh… wait…
