Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Would you like to see a mainline Pokemon game created in the old style?English2·14 hours agoIn general, Pokémon ROM hacks are cool and fans of the 2D or old game style like me should definitely give these more attention.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Would you like to see a mainline Pokemon game created in the old style?English1·14 hours agoTook me a little to realize Marcus was autocorrected Arceus. Pokémon Marcus sounds amusing.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Would you like to see a mainline Pokemon game created in the old style?English4·3 hours agoAbsolutely yes. I much prefer the 2D Pokémon artstyle to the 3D models.
Also [email protected] might like this question—kind of saddened to see things that would fit in active niche communities only ever get posted in a giant Games community, but it is also very unfair of me to expect everyone to know every community ever, and you generally get rewarded with more engagement in the big tent communities. Went and crossposted it myself.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Computer RPGs@lemmy.world•'Henry is worse than the Black Plague': Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 studio marks 3 million copies sold with some sobering statisticsEnglish5·2 days agoHenry’s total body count, which stands at more than 489 million. Warhorse Studios put that number into a fun and historically appropriate perspective: “Henry is worse than the Black Plague when it comes to killing.”
The Black Plague, one of the most infamous pandemics in human history, is estimated to have killed as many as 50 million people over a roughly seven year period. So yeah, Henry is way out in front on that one.
That is what is meant in the title.
Article statistics are actually just fun stats on what players do as Henry. “Sobering statistics” implies there is something depressing or bad for the game but the article only reports success for KC2. Misleading article title, unless it is actually just being tongue-in-cheek and I missed that.

Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy has 100 endings, and it's pushing the creators to the brink of bankruptcy | PC GamerEnglish4·2 days agoI’d imagine people who are really into “Choices Matter” and some people who are really into story would.
I play [email protected] and half the fun is seeing what decisions lead to different outcomes. And getting different outcomes for different choices, especially if they are big choices, makes me feel like my choices matter and impact the world, as opposed to if all these supposedly important choices can only ever get me 2 or 3 different endings.
Although I do share your question about how popular my opinion is with other gamers.
+1 for Frog Fractions. I finished in about an hour. Cannot tell you much without spoilers, but I can say it’s not one of those surprise horror games. It looks like a kid-friendly game and at least content-wise stays kid-friendly.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Tycoon Games@lemmy.world•inKONBINI (in development), a narrative focused third-person convenience store simulator set in the 90s, releases a demo on Steam.English2·3 days agoI’ll admit that flood has made me wary of [store type] simulator games, and I might not even click now because of games like that, so people who make bespoke [store type] simulator games unfortunately have a decent chance of passing me by because I’ve written those games off as “probably just an asset flip”.
I acknowledge it is possible to be a bad artist so you have low-effort asset flip looking things and no sense of how to put them together to get a nice cohesive look, while still being good at game design and pumping out something nice to play with those assets, but unfortunately I am a graphics snob (in the sense of “must look nice” not “must be high fidelity super HD”).
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Random Screenshots of my Games #60 - inKonbini: One Store. Many Stories (demo)English6·3 days agoThanks for posting this, we need more people on the Fediverse putting out original content like this. Nice overview of the game for anyone who wants to know what it’ll be like.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Tycoon Games@lemmy.world•inKONBINI (in development), a narrative focused third-person convenience store simulator set in the 90s, releases a demo on Steam.English5·3 days agoHas a nice cohesive look, more hopes than for games that (I have not tried them so they might have good gameplay!) look like asset flips without much artistic direction.

Hey, you might want to know that the item in brackets comes first and the link comes second. I see the raw link and the item in brackets, instead of what you probably intended: to have the item in brackets be a clickable link.

will produce what you want.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Life Simulation Games@lemmy.world•Tales of the Shire embraces a 'clutter-core experience' with grid-free decorating for your hobbit houseEnglish5·3 days agoIs it weird that I find grids comforting and going gridless in video games a little too much, whereas in real life of course I decorate gridless no problem?
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•The Definitive Guide to Steam Play ToolsEnglish9·3 days agoAlready gaming on Linux, but I have not tried third party tools and this article’s explanation of how to is pretty useful for if I ever do. As well as the explanation on why you need compatibility tools in the first place. I have just always taken “the exact software for one OS might not immediately run on the other” as a given. (In other words, I might as well be a newbie given how much I know: not everything the article had.) Thanks for sharing!
I enjoyed Rusty’s Retirement, glad to see someone else has played it. (I do count idlers as games.) Cute little desktop idle/incremental game.
- Idle Formulas
- Kittens Game
- untitled shark game, if you are stuck on which one to play I recommend at least starting with the original (bottom choice)
- PokéClicker
- Advent Incremental, I had more fun doing this around Christmas time but it is also playable off-season
- The Idle Class, game was probably intended as cynical political commentary on problems with capitalism, but my oversensitive “dammit yes I agree with you but I want to enjoy a game without dooming about the world” self was able to play just fine without getting sad or angry or hopeless
- Fundamental
- A-Z Inc
- Swarm Simulator
Lots more I cannot remember off the top of my head
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•What are some good examples of "Where the fuck do you go" kind of games?English2·3 days agoCame looking for someone to say Minecraft. If I’m not good about intentionally placing landmarks and the like I can get myself lost very easily. And sometimes even when I do place landmarks and write down the coordinates of my starting place! I have to tryhard on keeping directions, placing markers everywhere, on crafting maps with a little icon that shows where I am, to prevent getting lost when exploring. Admittedly I am not the greatest with directions in real life.
CrossCode is all about how it plays! That’s why there is a free Steam demo! Go give it a try! Take the best out of two popular genres, find a good balance between them and make a great game. That’s what CrossCode does. You get the puzzles of Zelda-esque dungeons and are rewarded with the great variety of equipment you know and love from RPGs. During the fast-paced battles you will use the tools you find on your journey to reveal and exploit the enemies’ weaknesses and at the same time will be able to choose equipment and skills for a more in-depth approach in fighting your enemies.
Yeah, I took a look because of your comment. Sounds like something I should try. The art is certainly appealing to me. Appreciative that more games are putting out demos lately.
Most of what I play is indie and choosing a favorite is too hard, so instead I’ll go with biggest playtime. Antimatter Dimensions, also on Steam, has quickly shot to having the highest playtime of my Steam library. It is an idle/incremental game. Bonus points: free! Most of the idle/[email protected] I have played have been free in the browser without IAPs, and seem to have been made by one or a few people.
Not counting that, I’d probably have to go with Stardew Valley.
