I can send you a picture from where I live when I’m back home, I’m sure it’ll make you feel better about your situation :)
Yeah that little ring road around the village was a pretty tough climb on the bike, haha.
Yeah sure, it’s not like anyone uses their car to get from a to b inside that village, but for everything else people will use a car.
I was passing through another village where I spent holidays as a kid, cabrière d’aigues, all I remembered was the big pétanque square. Seeing it now three quarters of the space is a parking area. I don’t know if I just remembered that wrong, but pretty sure there was no parking back then.
Oh man, sounds like you have quite some time on your hands, awesome. International train travel is a mess with a bike, probably makes sense to disassemble for that long of a trip then. Although you’d have time in advance to book something. There should be interesting “intercités de nuit” that would bring you from Paris to the border of Spain over night, I think both ends of Pyrenees, Basque country and catalunya. These trains should take full bikes. I hate the SNCF website though, so confusing and I never get to book a train that I’d like.
If you are interested in canaries at all, this is probably a good starting point for route ideas: https://granguanche.com/
It’s been on my radar, but I usually have all my holidays used up come winter, this year is no exception.
Never heard about Emily in Paris, but yeah I would actually not recommend to go to Gordes, haha. Roussillon probably the same.
Session is ON! 💥
Actually quite sketchy, not exactly made for a long wheelbase, very much for bmx. One tight double bump made me shit my pants for a bit.
I guess you try to get somewhere sunny?
Off the top of my head, Sicily, Portugal and southern Spain with the option to go to Morocco, Canary islands, Cyprus. To have a bit longer days, probably Canaries make sense since it is so far south. Probably also has relatively cheap flights. Only time I have been to the Canaries I had shit weather, but I guess it should not be the case really.
This is a nice site to check for weather averages: https://weatherspark.com/
Location is close to Robion, France.
Was a pretty good season for the community i think. But bike content is not a very popular topic in lemmy yet.
Kept on keeping track of user counts.

Very nice. Looking forward to attract those chatty fraggles to my balcony again when i am back home :)
As if the lack of infrastructure was the reason we don’t have more users.
Yeah, that ain’t a thing. If you’re lucky there may be one or a few* communal fire places, but it’s kinda rare. I have been the only on two, three official camp sites in Norway because I wild camped the rest, but I don’t remember seeing a fire place there either, although they may have had a communal one too. Refuges in the mountains often have an indoor fire place though.
*only really remember a single one that had a few, the one at Saignelégier, Switzerland.
The serious efforts I see you do is using this community pretty much solely to promote your own instances. If I was a mod here I’d ban your ass for non stop self promotion :)
Personally, like mentioned before, I won’t touch any instances that you run.
That is really cool that you have these, basically unheard of in Europe, maybe some places in Scandinavia.
Do you know what this map actually does? I am wondering if it’s a coincidence that when I set osmand up, I was at around those 45m of altitude, does it maybe assume altitude 0 when being set up without this map?
Sweet. The fire place was part of the site?
Hop, those are some claws in deed. Great picture!
Ignore my last comment, I just had to wait a bit longer. It is working now, thank you so much!
I see, another blackbird fan :)
