Sometimes it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Since light travels faster than sound, judging someone before you hear them out can cause you to miss out on lots of opportunities
at least in terms of memorability, I’ve actually experienced the opposite more clearly. I’d hear something a little stupid from someone, and assume they were dumb, only to find that I not only find them smart, but also quite similar to me.
