I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere - I haven’t been able to find the info I need. See, I’ve been trying to get a working installation of Office (well, just Word, really) for a long time now, but every single time, I run into a problem: it slips into reduced functionality mode after varying amounts of time. Everything’s activated, everything’s working just fine, and then boom, RF mode. Sometimes it happens over a few days, or even a couple weeks, but it happens at some point. Just recently, I had a fine working copy of Office (Word) 2007 for a while, but then poof, it went into RF mode the other day. I’ve been dealing with this shit no matter what version I use. 2007? RF. 2010? RF (Just happened now as of this post). 2021? Opens up documents that worked in every previous version IN RF mode. 2013, 2016 and 2019 all lag so much that I can’t even do much to see if they’d slip into it too. I would like to finish a project I’m working on to get me through the pandemic time, but it’s not really looking like I can. Is there anyone here who can help? I’ve used every concievable method of activation (I used to post on My Digital Life, but nothing there helped) and I’ve done them all exactly as I’m supposed to. But KMS_VL_ALL, etc doesn’t seem to do anything for me. I made all the necessary AV exceptions (I just use Windows Defender) too. And I’d rather not use one of the “alternatives” as they just butcher the document upon opening. Any help that can be provided will be appreciated. I hope everyone here has a safe, happy and healthy New Year.

I’m not sure what features you need but for most document creation LibreOffice works really good these days. When I want to maintain compatibility with MSFT I’ll open the docx in Office Online and tweek it there.

You are trying to crack the software. Until windows 7 you succeeded, and successfully used word 2007, as everyone else.

But you don’t seem to understand that the protection is now into the operating system. The OS itself (which is made by the same company) reverts the working crack.

    Solution:

    spoiler

    use LibreOffice.

Microsoft word can’t “butch” the document if you create and work on it from LibreOffice, without ever using word (or if you save your document in open format)

Don’t have Windows update Office for you.

I’ve used every concievable method of activation

Which cracks did you use exactly and how?

Can’t help you with this vague description of a problem tbh.

Use this tool by Ratiboris. He is a well known and trusted dev on ru-board who makes this Office installation tool. Use the uninstall feature first to completely remove everything then install whatever version you’d like through the program. After it installs, launch Word once then use the activation tab to activity your installation.

Something tells me this was already done but, did you try a clean install? Clean as in uninstalling Office but also clearing any remains that comes with it. Try it with this tool from Micro$oft or BCUninstaller/Bulk Crap Uninstaller (FOSS).

If you use BCUninstaller, you wanna use the “Leftover removal” (it appears after uninstalling an app through BCUninstaller) but you also want to be careful with some of the registries, thankfully it asks if you want to do a system recovery backup.

Afterwards, install like how you would and proceed to do the usual

Also, try not to have a Microsoft account linked to your PC (I assume you’re using Windows 10) as that likely triggers the issue

If all else fails, then im not sure what to say as this is the first I’ve heard of this issue

I can’t help, but I know at work OneDrive backup locks up all my Microsoft Office products. I work for a multi-billion dollar company and spend many hours a week just trying to get the legally installed software to work properly.
