I want it to post from reddit at Lemmy least. Thank you in advance!

I’m not expressing my own thoughts on the issue but the consensus I generally see is that Reddit posts get their value from the interactions from the community. No point in bringing in the content en masse, if something is worth posting do it manually.

But what about for example, a bot that pulls the top 10 posts a day in r/memes and posts them to the sublemmy c/memes? I feel like that would benefit everyone.

I think it would essentially be spam, as it would mirror posts regardless of quality. If people want to browse Reddit they will go there (which will also let them see comments).

I see what your saying but it would only be the top 10ish of the day. So Reddit users would already have sorted them by the best and worst.

Default subreddits have gone bad a long time ago, doesnt matter if you sort by top. I just checked the top 10, and honestly there is nothing i find funny. Plus two of them are clearly hidden advertising for some new spiderman movie. If you want to mirror it then you can create your own Lemmy instance for that purpose.

Ok I understand. I was just providing an example. I wont do it since there are mixed opinions are I agree with you a lot. Thanks!

start your own instance that does that exclusively and anyone can sub to them. it might be a good fork of libredd.it actually

By the moment Lemmy is not suitable to use them. for example, it does not have a system to differentiate between a bot user and a normal user. In other words, for Lemmy a bot would be nothing more than a “normal user” who posts spam, which would lead to being banned.

And since Lemmy is based on ActivityPub, you’ll likely find a module for NodeRED that could talk to Lemmy in your workflow.

Think this has already been discussed here in the past, try using the search funtion and look for when this was last discussed.
