It was the year that the N64 came out, and my parents got us one w/ Super Mario 64. Was a blast taking turns playing that for hours, figuring out puzzles, looking at guides to find all the missing stars.

Also, lots of times sledding / playing in the snow, then warming up inside.

Not really one memory, but I miss being a child and doing the huge family gatherings.

Realizing at the age of 5 that Santa is fake. Seeing behind the curtains that my mom was giving Santa presents that later on he would give me. It was a sad day, felt like he betrayed me. Happy memories now :).

the day after christmas is my birthday, for context. on christmas, i got a copy of mario kart DS. i was SO SO excited. i didn’t have a DS, but my friend did. we would pass it back and forth. they came over that night for a birthday sleepover, and we had so much fun! we were both a little disappointed that we couldn’t play two player but it was fine. the next morning, on my birthday, i woke up to a brand new DSI, and my friend and i started to play mario kart together!

that was quite awhile ago, they were 8 and i was turning 9. we’re 18 and 19 now, and still get together to play mario kart 8 deluxe. it’s been a pillar of our relationship and if i know if i ever have a horrible day, if nobody wants to be around me, they’re down to play a round of mario kart.
