I do wonder how this was not clear during the crowd-sourcing campaign already… but the new chip is probably also fine. Edit: According to a forum post they had ordered and even paid for the old chip already, just to be informed by the supplier shortly after that it was unavailable.

    Yeah the whole scenario really sucks, unless you were one of those super earlybird backers who got a shipping notification already you’re in for quite the extra wait.

    It seems that ordering a Linux phone right now is a pretty bad experience (PinePhone out of stock currently, Librem 5 shipping in unkown quantities at unknown times), hopefully things are able to improve as the year goes on.

    Yeah, I backed this. It’s bad news, but I’m more disappointed by the delay than the chip change. Oh well, I guess.

    I’d like to stop using Android and the pinephone I have is simply not powerful enough for me to rely on. I don’t feel bad supporting any initiative that provides a mobile linux option.
