IIrc aids and malaria might count as pandemics still
AIDS sure, though blaming that on capitalism is a bit odd. Malaria, though, I don’t think counts as a pandemic. Surely a pandemic must be a communicable disease? Malaria isn’t one.
So we’ve got AIDS (which really can’t be blamed on capitalism given how it tore through socialist nations as well), and we’ve got COVID-19 (whose spread can be blamed on capitalism). Monkeypox is not yet infecting a sizable number nor across a sizable area yet, so not a pandemic. (Yet. I need to stress this given the pathetic performance in the west with COVID-19.)
